Why Can't I Save This TikTok Video?
The usual reasons a TikTok won't download – and what actually helps
First identify what failed: opening the public post, getting download buttons, saving the file, or playing it. Copy a fresh post link if lookup fails. If buttons appear but saving stalls, follow the save prompt or open the link in Safari/Chrome. If the file saves but will not play, try H.264 instead of HD.
Quick checklist
- Open the link in a browser. Check whether the post is still available to you in TikTok. A login prompt by itself does not prove it was deleted or made private. This tool supports public posts and does not bypass access restrictions.
- Copy a fresh link. Tap Share → Copy link again instead of reusing an old message; short links can stop working.
- Make sure it is one post. Links to a profile, a live stream or a sound page are not a single video or photo post.
- Try the other file. If the download works but won't play, pick the H.264 file instead of HD.
The Save video button is missing in TikTok
TikTok lets every creator decide whether others may download their videos. When downloads are switched off, the Save video option simply is not shown in the Share menu. TikTok also keeps downloads off for accounts of younger users.
Use this tool for your own posts or content you have permission to save. Being public does not grant permission to republish someone else’s work.
Posts that cannot be downloaded at all
Private accounts, friends-only posts, drafts and posts that were deleted or taken down are not publicly reachable, so there is nothing to download. Live streams are not supported, and a link to a profile or a sound page does not point to one specific post.
The file downloads but won't play
HD often uses H.265 (HEVC), which may need a compatible player. Try the H.264 option first. Also check whether the file finished downloading and whether there is enough free storage.
On iPhone, check the browser’s Downloads list, the folder chosen in Save to Files, or Photos if you selected Save Video. A preview opening or a download button appearing is not proof that a file was saved.
The button is ready but no file appears
If the button changes to “Tap again to save”, tap it once more when the file is ready. Keep this page open while it prepares the file.
In UC, QQ, Quark or an in-app browser on iPhone, a system share panel may appear instead of a download. Choose Save Video, Save Image or Save to Files there. If the site shows an “open in browser” message, use its copy-link button and open that link in Safari.

Troubleshooting questions
Why can't I save TikTok videos anymore?
If only some videos lack the Save video button, their creators turned downloads off. If none can be saved in the app, update TikTok, or save public posts from their link instead.
Can I download a TikTok from a private account?
No. Private and friends-only posts are not publicly reachable, so no downloader can get them.
Can I save my own draft?
Drafts are not published, so they have no link. Open the draft in TikTok and use its own option to save the video to your device.
The short link worked yesterday. Why not today?
Short links can expire or briefly redirect to TikTok's home page. ReelTik retries a bounced link automatically; if it still fails, copy a new link from the post.
Why is there no HD or watermarked button?
Those buttons only appear when TikTok offers that version and it can actually be downloaded. Otherwise only the files that work are shown.
Why does my browser say “too many requests”?
To keep the service fast for everyone, each connection can only start a limited number of lookups per minute. Wait a moment and try again.
Why do I need to tap the save button twice?
If the button changes to “Tap again to save”, tap it once more when the file is ready. Keep this page open while it prepares the file.
What should I report if it still fails?
Note your device, browser, chosen format and exact error text. Check the Contact page for the support address. Never send your password or private account content.
